01 / What we do

Everything that carries water through a home.

The work covers the pipes, the fittings at the end of them and the radiators they feed. Each line below links to a fuller description of that part of the job, so you can see what is involved before you pick up the phone.

  • Whole-house replumbing

New pipework through the whole property, from the supply to every tap, basin, toilet and radiator. The kind of job that benefits from one person who knows how it all connects.

  • Pipework and leak repairs

Tracing a drip or a damp patch back to the joint that is causing it, and replacing the section of pipe rather than patching around it.

  • Taps, basins and sinks

Supplying and fitting taps, basins and kitchen sinks, or swapping worn ones for new, with the connections underneath made properly.

  • Toilets and cisterns

Replacing a toilet, or renewing the fill valve and flush mechanism in the cistern you already have when that is all it needs.

  • Radiator replacement

Taking out an old radiator and fitting a new one with new valves, and altering the pipework beneath it where the new unit sits differently.

02 / A real job, described

A whole-house replumb in Edinburgh, September 2020.

Among the work carried out by the company was the replacement of the plumbing throughout a house in Edinburgh. It is described here as a plain list of what was changed, because that is the most honest way to show the scale of a replumb: it touches almost every fixture in the building, and the pipework behind them.

03 / How a job works

One line from the first call to the finished job.

Plumbing follows a simple path, and so does working with a one-person company. This is how a typical job runs from start to finish.

  1. Get in touch

Call or send a WhatsApp message saying what the problem or the job is. A couple of photos make it much easier to understand before anyone travels.

  2. Talk it through

You describe what you want done and the owner explains what the work involves, in plain language and without jargon.

  3. The work

The job is carried out at the property, with the water isolated where it needs to be and the space protected while pipes are altered.

  4. Left tidy

Offcuts and packaging go with the owner when the work is finished, and you are shown what was done before the job is closed.

04 / The company

A registered Scottish company, checkable in a minute.

Northern Pipers & Plumbers Ltd was incorporated in March 2020 and is listed on the Companies House register under the number shown here, so anyone can look it up before letting a tradesperson into their home. The company’s work is plumbing and pipe installation.

The owner also holds a CSCS card, the card used to show a worker is qualified to work on construction sites. For a fuller account of how the company works, see the About page.
